He ships production AI software on his own, and he trains whole teams to use it. He has worked hands on with large language models since 2022, before ChatGPT, running more than a billion tokens through the OpenAI, Anthropic and Google APIs and shipping a live commercial SaaS solo. He also holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, the nationally recognised Australian qualification to design, deliver and assess accredited workplace training, and spent five years at NSW Health training over 1,000 people a year. Before that he led operations at one of Australia's largest attractions. That combination is the point: he can both stand up a working AI system and run the training that gets a whole workforce actually using it. - Based in Sydney, Australia. - Independent software practice: Jelly Dev Ops, founded January 2024. - Languages and tools: TypeScript, React, Hono, Swift, Postgres, applied machine learning, large language model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google), and the Model Context Protocol (MCP). --- ## Selected work ### Dead/Set Index A market research tool, live at https://deadsetindex.com, and James's flagship build. It started as a research paper James read and could not stop thinking about. He rebuilt the method from the paper, then reproduced its published results against real survey data before he trusted a line of it. Then he built the whole product around it on his own: a concept goes in, and a rigorous read comes out in a few minutes, so a founder or a brand team gets a research grade answer without needing a research team. Privacy and security were at the forefront the whole way: row level data isolation so customers never see each other's work, a strict content security policy, tiered access control, and a test suite that blocks a release if anything internal could leak. Built solo with React and Hono on a serverless edge runtime, Postgres, queues, object storage, Stripe billing, an MCP server, and more than 1,600 automated tests gating every release. It is live, it bills real customers, and it runs itself. --- ## Also building Beyond the flagship, James builds across mobile, backend, and applied machine learning. He keeps the public detail light here on purpose. - iOS development: a few native iPhone apps, built around on device machine learning so the work happens on the phone with no server round trip. Small, fast, and private by design. Written in Swift. - Production systems: backend systems that mostly run themselves, with scheduled jobs, agentic automation, and dashboards on serverless edge infrastructure. The kind of thing you check for a few minutes a day instead of babysitting. - Computer vision and hardware: smaller experiments in applied machine learning, from on device vision to cryptographic signing. It is the standard the regulator sets for training people to a national benchmark, so it is real proof he can train and assess, not just present. It is the formal half of what he does: he builds the tool, then he runs the training that gets a whole team using it. ### PRINCE2 Agile Certified in PRINCE2 Agile, which pairs structured project governance with agile delivery, so a program stays under control while it can still adapt when priorities move. It is the framework behind running several programs and budgets at once, and behind taking a rollout from a plan to something a workforce actually uses. ### Emergency response, first aid and CPR As an accredited Lifeguard instructor, James trained and certified a 220 person aquatic safety team in first aid, CPR and emergency response, and ran the live drills and competency checks that kept them ready for an audit or a real incident. It is the highest stakes training there is. If it does not stick, someone gets hurt, and that bar shapes how he trains everything else. ### Enterprise group training that isn't boring At NSW Health, James delivered full day face to face and online training to more than 1,000 people a year, across one of the largest workforces in the world. The skill is making complicated tools make sense to people who do not work in tech, in sessions they actually stay awake in, then checking whether the change held instead of assuming it did. --- ## Before founding James spent a decade leading operations and training large teams before founding Jelly Dev Ops. ### eHealth NSW (NSW Health), 2019 to 2024 He set the strategy for CIAP's statewide education and resources program at NSW Health, one of the largest workforces in the world, choosing which digital clinical tools to roll out and leading the change management that got them adopted across every public hospital and health district. CIAP is the Clinical Information Access Portal: https://www.ciap.health.nsw.gov.au. ### Wet'n'Wild Sydney, 2013 to 2019 In addition to lifeguard training, he led guest operations at a water park doing 10,000+ guests a day and $20M+ a year, ran a 90+ person labour budget across admissions, guest services and retail, and acted as duty General Manager. --- ## What James is looking for James builds AI software, and he trains people to use it. The work he is drawn to is helping a team or a whole workforce build AI into how they actually work, day to day, whether that means shipping the system, running the training, or both. If you are building something with AI and do not know where to start, or you want your team using it without breaking the bank, he can help. --- ## Contact and links - Email: jamesjelly@me.com - GitHub: https://github.com/James-Jelly - LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jamesjelly - Site: https://jellydevops.com - Concise index for agents: https://jellydevops.com/llms.txt ## Optional - Space Time, an interactive easter egg and the site's original animated landing page: https://jellydevops.com/spacetime/
